The GASSAR consists of 31 Chapters and over 1400
members that work to perpetuate the people and
events of the American Revolution, promote
patriotism, and preserve the ideals of
freedom.
The GASSAR conducts scholarship and
recognition programs for high school and
elementary school students, for ROTC and JROTC
cadets, and for Eagle Scouts. Many of its
members go into school classrooms, often in
Revolutionary War uniforms or other period
dress, and make presentations on the people and
events of the Revolution, the Declaration of
Independence, the United States Constitution,
and other patriotic themes. The GASSAR presents
medals of recognition to our public safety
officials, performs volunteer work with
Veterans, and conducts Revolutionary War grave
dedications. Its Chapters proudly recognize
deserving schools, businesses, and
organizations with Flag Certificates for their
proper and prominent display of the US Flag.
The GASSAR is an active participant in historic
battle site observances and other patriotic
programs. The award-winning Georgia Society
Color Guard participates in parades and posts
the Colors at civic and historic events. The GASSAR also supports and works closely with the
Children of the American
Revolution.
